The Northern Province Public Service Commission (NPPSC) has announced the Open Competitive Examination for the recruitment of Motor Vehicle Drivers (Grade III) for the Northern Province Combined Driver’s Service.
Applications are now invited from eligible candidates who are permanent residents of the Northern Province.
Overview
- Position: Motor Vehicle Driver (Grade III).
- Total Vacancies: 50.
- Closing Date: January 12, 2026.
- Exam Date: Expected to be held in January 2026.
District-Wise Vacancy Details
The 50 available vacancies are distributed among the districts as follows:
- Jaffna: 25 Vacancies
- Vavuniya: 08 Vacancies
- Mullaitivu: 05 Vacancies
- Kilinochchi: 06 Vacancies
- Mannar: 06 Vacancies
Salary Scale
Selected candidates will be placed on the salary scale PL 3 – 2025.
- Monthly Salary: Rs. 42,780 – 66,540/-.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must meet the following requirements by the application closing date:
1. Educational Qualifications
- Passed G.C.E. (O/L) Examination in not more than two sittings.
- Must have passed 06 subjects with Credit (C) passes in at least 02 subjects (including Tamil or Sinhala language).
- Must have passed at least 05 subjects in a single sitting.
2. Professional Qualifications (Driving License)
- Possess a valid driving license for Class C and C1 (Old Method) OR Class B (New Method).
- The license must have been obtained at least 03 years prior to the application closing date.
- Experience: Minimum of 03 years of experience as a Motor Vehicle Driver (must be proved by certificates).
3. Physical Requirements
- Height: Minimum 5 feet 2.5 inches (158.75 cm).
- Must have good eyesight and be physically and mentally fit to work day and night.
4. Age Limit
- Minimum: 18 Years.
- Maximum: 45 Years.
5. Residency
- Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka and a permanent resident of the Northern Province.
- Must have resided in the province for at least 03 years within the last 06 years prior to the closing date.
