Master of Teacher Education (MTE) 2025/26 – Open University

The Faculty of Education at The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) has announced the commencement of applications for the Master of Teacher Education (MTE) programme for the academic year 2025/2026. This postgraduate programme is designed for professionals involved in teacher education and school leadership, aiming to advance their academic and professional competencies.

Admission Requirements:

Applicants must fulfill the following educational and professional criteria:

Academic Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Education from a recognized university OR
• A Bachelor’s Degree plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education OR
• Any other equivalent or higher qualification accepted by the OUSL Senate.

Professional Requirements:

Candidates must currently be serving as one of the following:

• An academic staff member of a recognized university.
• An officer in the Sri Lanka Teacher Educator Service.
• A lecturer at a Teacher Training College.
• A principal of a government-approved school (private or international) with at least Principal Grade or equivalent.
• A staff member involved in teacher education at the National Institute of Education.
• An in-service teacher advisor at a Teacher Centre or Ministry of Education.
• An officer in the Educational Administrative Service.

Selection will be based on either a written test or an interview.
