Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education
The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has officially announced the 10th Intake of the Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme (IFSLS) for the year 2025.
This national initiative provides an excellent opportunity for Sri Lankan students who have successfully passed the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in 2022, 2023, or 2024 to pursue recognized degree programmes offered by non-state higher education institutes approved by the Ministry.
What is the Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme (IFSLS)?
The Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme is implemented by the Student Loans Division of the Ministry of Education.
It aims to support talented students who qualify for university education but do not gain admission to state universities due to limited intake capacity.
Through this scheme, students can obtain a full loan without any interest to follow degree programs conducted in English medium at approved non-state higher education institutes across the country.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the IFSLS (10th Intake – 2025), candidates must have:
– Passed the G.C.E. (A/L) examination in 2022, 2023, or 2024 (Sri Lanka).
– Fulfilled the entry requirements specified for the selected degree programme.
