The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, in collaboration with the British Council, Colombo, has called for applications to attend the IATEFL 2026 Conference (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language), scheduled to be held in April 2026 in Brighton, United Kingdom IATEFL-Conference.
Under this initiative, two (02) fully funded scholarships will be awarded to eligible in-service English Teacher Advisors and Regional English Support Centre (RESC) mentors. The programme will be fully sponsored by the British Council, Colombo, covering all conference-related expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are invited from:
- Officers of the Sri Lanka Teacher Advisors Service (SLTAS – English), and
- Officers of the Sri Lanka Teacher Service (SLTS) currently serving as RESC mentors IATEFL-Conference.
Applicants must:
- Be below 45 years of age as of 19 January 2026
- Possess qualifications such as Trained Teacher status, National Diploma in Teaching, or a Bachelor’s Degree
- Have a minimum of two years’ service/experience in the relevant position as of 19 January 2026
- Have not received any foreign scholarship or overseas training opportunity from the Ministry of Education during the last three years
