The Father Peter Pillai Memorial Scholarship Awards 2024 Fund has announced its call for applications for the 2024 scholarship awards, aimed at supporting students who have gained university admission and are in financial need.
The prestigious scholarships are open to students who sat for the GCE Advanced Level examination in January 2024 and secured entry to a full-time degree program in a national university for the academic year 2024/2025. The program specifically supports those pursuing science-related disciplines, including Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, and several other critical fields.
Eligible fields of study also include:
- Dentistry, Quantity Surveying, Architecture
- Environmental Science, Bio-Science, Physical Science
- Textile & Clothing Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology
- Surveying Science, Food & Nutrition
While the majority of scholarships are intended for science students, a limited number are also available for students admitted to the Management Faculty at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Qualifications Required:
Applicants must meet one of the following academic criteria:
- A minimum “Z” score of 1.6000 along with a pass in the General Paper, or
- Placement within the first ten in their district.
In addition, all applicants must demonstrate financial need.
Interested candidates should request an application form by writing to the scholarship fund before 7th May 2025, enclosing a self-addressed stamped envelope (9”x4”), or by sending an email to fppmsf@gmail.com.
An added incentive this year includes the awarding of 3 free laptops to the top three applicants, recognizing both academic merit and financial need.
