The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka has announced a critical deadline for student applicants seeking state university admission for the Academic Year 2025/2026 (based on the 2025 G.C.E. Advanced Level examination results).
According to the official UGC portal, the deadline to change the order of “Uni-Codes” online is June 2, 2026.
Key Information for Applicants
- What are Uni-Codes?: Uni-Codes represent the unique combination of the specific Course of Study and the University (e.g., Medicine – University of Colombo).
- The Rule of Preference: Candidates are only considered for the specific Uni-Codes they have explicitly listed. If a student misses a code, they will not be considered for that course/university, regardless of whether their Z-score meets the cut-off.
- The Importance of the Deadline: Students who have already submitted their initial applications have a two-week window following the initial closing date to log back into their profiles, add, remove, or re-order their university preferences.
- Visit the official UGC website at www.ugc.ac.lk.
- Log into your applicant profile using your unique User ID and Password.
- Re-arrange, add, or delete your course/university preferences as desired.
- Mandatory Step: After submitting the changes online, download and print the updated application, sign it, and send it to the UGC via Registered Post.
