The Faculty of Education at the University of Colombo has announced the opening of applications for the Master of Education (M.Ed.) Degree Programme (SLQF Level 9) for the academic year 2025. The programme will be conducted part-time and is available in Sinhala, Tamil, and English mediums.
Eligible candidates must meet one of the following entry qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Education Degree (SLQF 6) from a recognized university or UGC-approved institution.
- Any other Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF 5 or 6) with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PG Dip Ed).
- Completion of NVQ Level 7 with a PGDE.
- A Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF 5 or 6) with at least three years of relevant work experience in the field of Education, subject to acceptance by the Faculty Board and Senate.
Applicants must also demonstrate working knowledge of English and pass a selection test and/or interview.
Application Process:
- Application forms can be downloaded from the Faculty of Education website
- Applications must be submitted both online and by registered post.
- Completed hard copies, along with the payment slip and a self-addressed stamped envelope (Rs. 110/-), should be sent to the Senior Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Education, University of Colombo, Colombo 03.
- The deadline for submission is 15th June 2025.

- Local applicants: Rs. 250,000
- International applicants: US$ 3000
- Application fee: Rs. 2,000 (local) or US$ 50 (international)
