The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka has officially released the admission details for the 2024/2025 academic year, announcing the selection of 42,172 students for undergraduate programs under the normal intake. The selections are based on the results of the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level examination, following a re-scrutiny process.
According to data released by the UGC, a total of 285,289 students sat for the A/L examination in 2024. Of these, 177,920 were deemed eligible for university admission. However, only 90,670 eligible students formally applied for admission through the UGC system, highlighting a significant gap between eligibility and application.
The selected 42,172 students represent approximately 46.5% of those who applied and 23.7% of all eligible candidates.
