The Ministry of Education has issued a new circular extending the temporary attachment period for teachers currently serving in National Schools until March 3, 2026.
The circular, bearing the reference number ED/01/29/15/01 and dated October 29, 2025, was dispatched to all National School Principals.
Key Provisions of the Extension
The extension is subject to a critical condition: the temporary attachment can only continue if the Principal of the teacher’s permanent service station agrees.
Key points outlined in the directive include:
- Extension Date: Temporary attachments are extended up to March 3, 2026.
- Condition: Continuation requires the written consent of the Principal of the teacher’s permanent school.
- No Individual Letters: Individual extension letters will not be issued to the teachers concerned. The circular itself serves as the official notification.
Impact of New Compulsory Transfers
The circular also details the immediate action required for teachers who receive new posting letters under the 2025 Compulsory/Annual Transfer Scheme:
- Immediate Release: The temporary attachment of any teacher who receives an Annual Transfer Letter for a new duty station in 2025 will become immediately invalid.
- Principal’s Duty: School Principals are mandated to release the teachers immediately to enable them to assume duties at their newly assigned service station.
