The Sri Lanka Regular Naval Force has officially invited applications from eligible male and female candidates for enlistment as Officer Cadets for the 2026 intake. Vacancies are available across several specialized branches, including Executive, Marine Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Logistics, Provost, and Naval Infantry.
Eligibility and Academic Requirements
Prospective candidates must be Sri Lankan citizens aged between 18 and 22 years as of April 30, 2026.
General Educational Qualifications:
- G.C.E. (O/L): Six subjects with Credit passes in Mother Tongue, Mathematics, and English (maximum two sittings).
- G.C.E. (A/L): Specific requirements vary by branch. For instance, Executive candidates need three passes in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Combined Mathematics. Provost and Naval Infantry branches accept three passes from any stream.
- Aptitude: A minimum of 30 marks in the Common General Test is mandatory.
Physical Standards
The Navy maintains strict physical requirements to ensure operational readiness:
- Height: Minimum 5′ 6″ for males and 5′ 3″ for females (slightly higher for the Provost branch).
- Vision: Must be $6/6$ in both eyes without the use of spectacles or lenses.
- Fitness: Candidates must pass a Physical Endurance Test (PET), which includes a 1600m run, push-ups, and sit-ups within specified time limits.
Training and Benefits
Selected recruits will undergo basic training and, upon successful completion, will be commissioned as Acting Sub Lieutenants.
Financial Incentives: During training, Officer Cadets receive a total monthly package of approximately Rs. 108,415.80, which includes a basic salary, cost of living, and allowances for uniforms and rations.
