Hon. Professor Jayantha Lal Ratnasekara, Governor of the Eastern Province, has declared a special Leave for Muslim schools in the province on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, in observance of Id-Ul-Fitr (Ramadan Festival Day).

The decision follows the official public holiday on Monday, March 31, 2025, marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. To compensate for the closure, the missed school day will be rescheduled to Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Meanwhile, Sinhala and Tamil schools in the Eastern Province will continue their regular academic activities without any changes.

The Governor’s Office has advised school authorities, students, and parents to take note of this adjustment and make necessary arrangements.
