The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced a special intake for university admission for the academic year 2024/2025, targeting students with exceptional achievements in sports.
Eligible candidates will have the opportunity to pursue Sports Science & Management at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and University of Kelaniya, or Physical Education at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka and University of Jaffna.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have distinguished themselves at international or national levels, including:
- Winning medals or participating in the Olympic Games.
- Securing Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, or SAARC Games.
- Representing Sri Lanka in recognized world-level competitions such as Cricket, Football, Rugby, Volleyball, Netball, or other sports recognized by the UGC.
Selected candidates will also be required to complete a foundation course at the Open University of Sri Lanka before commencing their academic program.
