In a significant move to encourage academic excellence, the President’s Fund has launched a provincial-level awards programme to honour students who excelled in the 2023/2024 GCE Advanced Level (A/L) examinations.
Under this initiative, 60 top-performing students from each district will be selected based on their outstanding results across all subject streams. These students will be awarded financial scholarships and certificates of achievement, recognizing their academic dedication and success.
The selection process is being carried out in collaboration with the Department of Examinations and the University Grants Commission (UGC), ensuring transparency and accuracy using the official results of the 2023/2024 exams.
The first phase of the programme will begin with the Northern Province, where distinguished students from Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar, and Vavuniya districts will be recognized. The awards ceremony is scheduled for June 22, 2025, in Kilinochchi, with all preparations now complete.
Officials confirm that similar ceremonies will be held across other provinces in the coming weeks, as part of a broader effort to support and celebrate academic excellence nationwide.
