Court Typists Vacancies (Open Exam) – Judicial Service Commission

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced an Open Competitive Examination for the recruitment of Court Typists (Sinhala/Tamil/English) Grade III under the Court Management Assistants’ Service. Eligible Sri Lankan citizens are invited to apply before July 18, 2025.

Key Details:

Eligibility Criteria:

• Nationality: Must be a Sri Lankan citizen.
• Age Limit: 18–35 years as of June 13, 2025.
• Educational Qualifications:
  • G.C.E. O/L Credits: Minimum of 4 subjects, including Mathematics and the relevant language (Sinhala/Tamil/English) in one sitting.
  • Typing Course: Must have completed a recognized typing or computer course (from institutions like NYSC, NAITA, or government-approved centers).
• Other Requirements:
  • Good moral character.
  • Physical and mental fitness to serve anywhere in Sri Lanka.

Examination Structure:

• Three Papers:
  1. Language Proficiency (100 marks) – Tests comprehension, grammar, and drafting skills.
  2. Aptitude (100 marks) – Evaluates numerical reasoning and general intelligence.
  3. Typing Test – Language-specific speed test:
     • Sinhala/Tamil: 400 words at 20 words per minute.
     • English: 600 words at 30 words per minute.
• Passing Marks: Minimum 40/100 for Language Proficiency and Aptitude. Typing pass marks will be decided based on vacancies.

Salary & Benefits:

• Starting Salary: Rs. 48,470 per month (with increments up to Rs. 82,800).
• Permanent & Pensionable: Subject to future government policies.
• Probation Period: 3 years, with an Efficiency Bar Exam required within 5 years.
