The National Institute of Education (NIE) has officially invited applications from qualified individuals for various permanent and contract-based job vacancies.

Vacancy Details & Eligibility Criteria

1. Senior Lecturer

No. of Positions: 02
Subject Areas: English, Health & Physical Education
Service Category: Senior Academic and Research (AR 2)
Salary Scale: Rs. 133,220 – 10 x 3,600 – 169,220/- monthly
Age Limit: 30 – 55 years
Qualifications (Option 1): UGC-recognized Special Degree in the relevant field with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education AND a postgraduate degree in Education/relevant field AND a minimum of 8 years of academic/research experience.
Qualifications (Option 2): UGC-recognized Special Degree in the relevant field with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education AND a PhD in a related field AND a minimum of 5 years of academic/research experience.

2. Legal Officer

Service Category: Middle Manager (MM 1-3)
Salary Scale: Rs. 96,650 – 10 x 2,480 – 15 x 3,450 – 173,200/- monthly
Age Limit: 22 – 45 years
Qualifications: UGC-recognized Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, sworn in as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court, and at least 1 year of legal experience.

3. Office Secretary

5. Technical Assistant Posts

6. Management Assistant

7. Driver

Service Category: Primary Level – Skilled (PL 3)

Age Limit: 18 – 45 years
Qualifications: Passed 6 subjects in G.C.E. (O/L) with at least 2 credit passes in not more than two sittings AND hold a heavy vehicle driving license with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience.

8. Chief Cook

9. Computer Graphic Designer (Contract Basis)

Monthly Salary: Rs. 50,540 + Rs. 17,800 = Rs. 68,340/- monthly
Age Limit: 18 – 45 years
Qualifications: NVQ Level 5 certificate OR NVQ Level 4 certificate with 10 years of post-qualifying experience.

10. Office Aide & Labourer (Contract Basis)

Service Category: Primary Level – Unskilled (PL 1)
Monthly Salary: Rs. 40,500 + Rs. 17,800 = Rs. 58,300/- monthly
Age Limit: 18 – 45 years
Positions & Qualifications:
- Office Aide (10 positions): Passed 6 subjects in G.C.E. (O/L) with 2 credit passes in not more than two sittings.
- Labourer (03 positions): Has sat for the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination.

Important General Conditions

Nationality & Character: Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka and possess excellent moral character.
Fitness & Work Station: Candidates must be physically and mentally fit. While they should be ready to serve anywhere on the island, the permanent workstation will be in Maharagama or Meepe.
Age Exceptions: The maximum age limit is not applicable to internal candidates.
Benefits: For permanent positions, candidates contribute 8% to EPF, and the institution contributes 12% to EPF and 3% to ETF. Government-approved allowances will be paid in addition to the basic salary. Salary payments follow Management Services Circular 01/2025.
