The Cabinet of Ministers has officially approved the appointment of A.K. Subhasini Indika Kumari Liyanage as the new Commissioner General of Examinations, with immediate effect. The proposal was submitted by the Prime Minister and received the Cabinet’s endorsement earlier this week.
This appointment follows the conclusion of the term of H.J.M.C.A. Jayasundara, whose service as Commissioner General ended on May 6, 2025. Jayasundara had served with commitment, overseeing key national assessments and contributing to improvements in examination administration.
Liyanage, a senior education official with extensive experience in public service, is expected to bring renewed focus and direction to the Department of Examinations. Her leadership comes at a time when Sri Lanka is strengthening reforms in the national examination system and enhancing the use of digital technologies in assessments.
