The Cabinet of Ministers has officially approved the establishment of a National Steering Committee on Education Reforms, aimed at ensuring the seamless implementation and monitoring of the country’s evolving school curriculum.
The proposal, submitted by the Prime Minister in her capacity as the Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, comes as the government enters a critical phase of its educational restructuring.
Key Milestones for Implementation
According to the approved plan, the new education reforms—which originally began in 2019—have been aligned with current government policies and are being rolled out in stages:
- Grade 1: Implementation has officially commenced for the 2026 academic year.
- Grade 6: Reforms are scheduled to be introduced starting in 2027.
Ensuring Accountability and Expertise
The government identified an urgent need for a high-level oversight body to maintain the continuity of these reforms and to provide expert guidance. The newly formed National Steering Committee will be composed of a diverse group of stakeholders, including:
- Relevant Cabinet Ministers.
- Subject matter experts and academics.
- Senior government officials.
- Education professionals and trade union representatives.
