⚡ A Unique Programme in Sri Lanka
According to the programme information, the Master of Energy Management is the first study programme of its type in Sri Lanka. The programme combines academic learning with practical industry-oriented activities, including mini projects, case studies, discussion sessions and an industry energy audit project.
Students will also have the opportunity to participate in two online courses delivered by experts from abroad, providing exposure to international knowledge and practices in the energy sector. The programme leads to an SLQF Level 9 Master’s Degree, approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC), and is offered by a recognized state university.
📖 Programme Duration & Outcomes
The programme is conducted over one academic year, consisting of two semesters. Successful completion is expected to equip graduates with the ability to address energy policies and management issues, understand new energy-saving technologies, evaluate energy sources and identify opportunities for improving energy efficiency.
Students will also develop skills to conduct energy research and audits, assess alternative energy solutions, implement and monitor energy-efficiency improvements, and recommend practical solutions based on economic feasibility.
✅ Admission Requirements
Applicants are required to satisfy at least one of the specified academic or professional qualification pathways:
- A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 90 SLQF credits in engineering, physical science, technology, or another discipline related to the energy field; or
- An equivalent or higher academic and professional qualification related to the energy field, acceptable to the Senate of the Open University of Sri Lanka.
📌 Applicants are also required to successfully complete an aptitude test and/or interview conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
