HND in Irrigation Technology – 2025

The International Training Institute of Irrigation and Water Management, Kothmale, operating under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation, has announced the commencement of applications for its prestigious Higher National Diploma (HND) in Irrigation Technology for the 2025 intake.

This full-time, three-year diploma program is conducted in English medium and comprises two years of residential academic training followed by one year of field training. The course is recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission and is designed to prepare young professionals in the field of irrigation and water management.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are invited from unmarried Sri Lankan citizens who meet the following criteria:

• Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) with a credit pass in English in one sitting.
• Passed three subjects in the Mathematics stream at the G.C.E. (A/L) in one sitting.
• Under 25 years of age as of the closing date and in good physical and mental health.
• Not registered for any other higher education program.

Selection Process

Applicants will be selected through a competitive Aptitude Test and/or interview. Only the candidates with the highest scores will be offered admission.

Special Notes

• Training expenses are covered by the Government of Sri Lanka, and residential facilities are provided by the institute.
• Students must cover personal expenses such as meals and medical needs.
• Successful candidates will receive an NVQ Level 6 Diploma certificate upon passing all required examinations.
• Students must sign an agreement to complete the training and may be required to reimburse costs if they withdraw early.
