Ayurvedic Medical Officer (Primary Grade) Recruitment 2026 Overview

The Health Services Committee of the Public Service Commission, functioning under the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, has called for applications from eligible graduates to recruit 177 Medical Officers into the Primary Grade of the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Medical Service within the Department of Ayurveda.

The recruitment process is carried out in line with Directive No. DMS/CAD/MOH/CM/Vol.V dated September 23, 2026, issued by the Department of Management Services, and the Service Minute of the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Medical Service published in Gazette Extraordinary No. 2199/10 dated October 27, 2020 (as amended).

සෞඛ්‍ය හා ජනමාධ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශය යටතේ ක්‍රියාත්මක රාජ්‍ය සේවා කොමිෂන් සභාවේ සෞඛ්‍ය සේවා කාරක සභාව මගින් ආයුර්වේද දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ ප්‍රාථමික ශ්‍රේණියේ ආයුර්වේද වෛද්‍ය නිලධාරී තනතුරු 177 ක් සඳහා සුදුසුකම්ලත් උපාධිධාරීන්ගෙන් අයදුම්පත් කැඳවා ඇත. අයදුම්පත් නියමිත ආකෘතියට අනුව සම්පූර්ණ කර ලියාපදිංචි තැපෑලෙන් 2026 නොවැම්බර් 16 දිනට පෙර එවිය යුතුය.

சுகாதார மற்றும் வெகுஜன ஊடக அமைச்சின் கீழ் இயங்கும் அரசாங்க சேவை ஆணைக்குழுவின் சுகாதார சேவைகள் குழு, ஆயுர்வேத திணைக்களத்தில் ஆரம்ப தரத்திலுள்ள 177 ஆயுர்வேத மருத்துவ உத்தியோகத்தர் வெற்றிடங்களை நிரப்ப தகுதியானவர்களிடமிருந்து விண்ணப்பங்களை கோரியுள்ளது. பூர்த்தி செய்யப்பட்ட விண்ணப்பங்கள் 2026 நவம்பர் 16 ஆம் திகதிக்கு முன்னர் பதிவுத் தபாலில் அனுப்பி வைக்கப்பட வேண்டும்.

Eligibility Requirements

• Educational Qualifications:
  • A five-year degree in Ayurvedic Medicine (BAMS), Siddha Medicine (BSMS), or Unani Medicine (BUMS) from a UGC-recognized university.
  • Successful completion of the mandatory one-year hospital internship training program.
• Professional Registration: Must possess a valid Certificate of Registration issued by the Ayurvedic Medical Council of Sri Lanka.
• Age Limit: Must be between 22 and 45 years of age as of November 16, 2026.
• General & Physical Fitness: Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka of excellent moral character, physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of Sri Lanka. Prior work experience is not required.

Selection Methodology

Eligible graduates will be recruited based on the merit ranking order published by the UGC for the respective graduation years. If applicants represent multiple graduating batches, appointments will prioritize the chronological order of merit lists across those years, conducted through a General Interview Board appointed by the Appointing Authority.

Application Procedure & Submission Guidelines

1. Prepare the application strictly following the official specimen format on A4-sized paper (22 × 29 cm). Headings 01 to 08 must be on Page 1, and Headings 09 to 11 on Page 2.
2. Entries must be written clearly in the candidate’s own handwriting. Sinhalese candidates must write their name in Sinhala and English; Tamil candidates must write their name in Tamil and English.
3. Have your signature formally attested by an authorized officer (School Principal, Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Oaths, Attorney-at-Law, Notary Public, Commissioned Officer of the Armed Forces, Gazetted Police Officer, or a permanent Staff Grade Public Officer).
4. Candidates currently serving in the Public Service must route their application through their respective Head of Department.
5. Clearly mark the top left corner of the envelope with: “Recruitment to the Post of Medical Officer (Primary Grade) in the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Medical Service – 2026”.
6. Dispatch via Registered Post to reach on or before November 16, 2026 to:
