Non-Academic Vacancies – University of Vavuniya

The University of Vavuniya, Sri Lanka, has announced that it will entertain applications from suitably qualified Sri Lankan citizens for several non-academic permanent posts.

Vacant Posts

The following permanent positions are open for application:

• Works Aide Gr.III
• Groundsman Gr.III
• Library Attendant Gr.III
• Security Guard Gr.III

Qualifications and Eligibility

For all the above posts, the general qualifications are:

• Candidates must have passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination in six (06) subjects with at least two (02) credit passes in not more than two sittings.
• Age should be not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years of age on the closing date of applications.

Additionally, applicants must be a citizen of Sri Lanka, physically and mentally fit to discharge the duties of the post, and be of excellent moral character.

Remuneration and Benefits

The salary scale for these posts (Salary Code: U-PL 1 (III)) from April 1, 2025, is Rs. 42,775 – 16 x 450 – Rs. 49,975 p.m.

.Other allowances include:

• Cost of living allowance: Rs. 17,800/- p.m.
• Monthly Compensatory Allowance: 36% Rs. 330/- p.m.

Statutory benefits include membership in the Universities Provident Fund and Pension Scheme, Gratuity payments, Employees’ Trust Fund benefits, and Free Medical Services.

Method of Recruitment

Selection will be based on a test and/or structured interview. Only short-listed applicants will be called for an interview.

2. The downloaded application form must be accompanied by a paid Bank Slip for a deposit of Rs. 100/-, credited to the Bank of Ceylon, Account No: 2364602 in favour of the Bursar, University of Vavuniya.
3. The completed application, along with photocopies of educational and professional qualifications, should be sent to the Deputy Registrar, Establishments, University of Vavuniya, Pambaimadu.
4. The specific post applied for should be clearly marked on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
5. Candidates applying for more than one post must submit a separate application form and a separate Bank Slip for each post.
6. Applicants currently working in the University System, Government Departments, Corporations, or Statutory Boards must channel their applications through the Head of their respective Institutions.
