📝 Introduction

The SLTS Second Efficiency Bar Examination 2026 has been officially notified for officers serving in the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service. The examination will be conducted in October 2026 at designated centres island-wide, and online applications are open from 20 July 2026 to 10 August 2026. Teachers in National and Provincial Schools who meet the eligibility conditions below should take note of the closing date and application procedure.

🎓 Eligibility Criteria

This examination is open to teachers serving in National and Provincial Schools under the following conditions:

  • Grade 2-II Officers: Teachers promoted to Grade 2-II must complete this Efficiency Bar examination within four (04) years of receiving their promotion, excluding direct recruits to Grade 2-II based on a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree as specified under Clause 13.8 of the SLTS Minute.
  • Grade 2-I Officers: Teachers promoted to Grade 2-I on or before 30 June 2025, with the condition to complete the EB exam prior to their next promotion, must pass this exam to qualify for promotion to Grade 1.

💻 How to Apply

Applications must be submitted strictly online by following these steps:

  1. Visit the Department of Examinations website at www.doenets.lk.
  2. Navigate to “Our Services” → “Online Applications Recruitment / E.B. Exams”.
  3. Fill out the application form in English only.
  4. After online submission, download and print two (02) physical copies of the application.
  5. Fill in the remaining handwritten sections on the printed copies.
  6. Certify your signature and obtain certification from the Zonal Director of Education.
  7. File one copy in your Personal File and keep the second copy for your personal records.
