National Scientific, Qur’anic Calligraphy Competition 2026 – SEUSL

The Department of Arabic Language at the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL) has officially announced the call for submissions for the National Scientific Qur’anic Arabic Calligraphy Competition and Exhibition (NSQACCE) – 2026.

Organized by the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language (FIA), this national-level event aims to foster artistic talent and promote the intricate art of Qur’anic calligraphy among students across the island. The competition is open to participants aged 15 and above who are currently enrolled in recognized educational institutions.

Competition Categories and Cash Prizes

The organizers have structured the competition into three distinct categories, offering substantial cash rewards for the top three winners in each group:

• University Level:
  • 1st Prize: Rs. 40,000.00
  • 2nd Prize: Rs. 25,000.00
  • 3rd Prize: Rs. 15,000.00
• Arabic College Level:
  • 1st Prize: Rs. 30,000.00
  • 2nd Prize: Rs. 15,000.00
  • 3rd Prize: Rs. 10,000.00
• School Level:
  • 1st Prize: Rs. 25,000.00
  • 2nd Prize: Rs. 15,000.00
  • 3rd Prize: Rs. 10,000.00

In addition to cash prizes, all participants will receive certificates, and the top three winners in each category will be awarded special accolades.

Submission Guidelines

Entrants must adhere to strict guidelines to qualify. Artwork must be original, never previously submitted to other competitions, and created solely by the applicant. Participants are limited to one submission each.

• Theme & Content: Artwork must feature Qur’anic verses reflecting the chosen theme, accompanied by appropriate artistic illustrations, backgrounds, and coloring.
• Dimensions & Materials: The required size is 22.5″ x 28.5″ (Bristol Board size). Acceptable materials include Bristol board, Canva board, plastic, foam board, wood, glass, metal, or cloth.
• Verification: Applicants must be prepared to demonstrate their calligraphy skills live if requested by the judges.

e. The back of the artwork must clearly label the applicant’s full name, address, date of birth, phone number, WhatsApp number, and the name of their college, school, or university.
