The Ministry of Health has officially announced the Student Nursing Training Programme 2026, opening a significant opportunity for 3000 student nurse trainees across Sri Lanka. The application process will commence on May 29, 2026, and close on June 30, 2026.
This three-year full-time training program (conducted in English) is designed for qualified G.C.E. Advanced Level candidates from Biological or Physical Science streams. Successful trainees receive a monthly allowance and have the opportunity for permanent government employment upon completion.

🎓 Educational Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following academic requirements:
G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L)
- Passed with 09 subjects.
- Credit passes (not less than ‘C’) in:
- Sinhala OR Tamil
- Mathematics
- Science
- English
- Completed within not more than two sittings.
G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L)
- Must have completed A/L in 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024.
- Only candidates from Biological Science or Physical Science streams are eligible.
- Must have passed 03 subjects in one sitting (General English & Common General Test are not considered).

👨⚕️ Other Eligibility Requirements
- Citizenship – Sri Lankan Citizen
- Age – Between 18 and 28 years on 29.05.2026
- Minimum Height – 147.3 cm (4’10”)
- Marital Status – Must be unmarried
- Gender – Both Male and Female can apply (Allocation: 95% Female, 5% Male)
- Health – Physically and mentally fit
❌ Not Eligible to Apply
The following candidates cannot apply:
- Students currently following full-time university degree programmes.
- Students enrolled in National Colleges of Education.
- Students following full-time courses under Ministry of Health or other government institutions.
- Married or divorced applicants.
- Applicants providing false information (will result in disqualification).

- Fee: Rs. 1000
- Payment Method: Must be paid at a Bank of Ceylon (BOC) Branch (over the counter).
- Online banking and cash deposit machines are NOT accepted.
- Important: Keep the original receipt for interview verification.
