The Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka has officially announced that GCE O/L Examination 2025 – applications for private candidates for the General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination 2025 (2026) will be accepted from 18th September 2025 to 9th October 2025.
All applications must be submitted online through the official portal of the Department of Examinations. The closing date will not be extended under any circumstances.
Key Details for Applicants
- Application Period: 18.09.2025 – 09.10.2025 (until 12 midnight).
- Mode: Online only – onlineexams.gov.lk/eic.
- Eligibility: Only candidates with a Student’s Performance Record (Education B59 / School Leaving Certificate) can apply. Students currently enrolled in schools are not eligible.
- Application Copy: Keep a printed PDF of your submitted application for reference.
- One Application Rule: Each candidate may submit only one application.

Payments can be made via post offices or bank debit/credit cards. Applications can be downloaded only after payment confirmation.
Special Instructions
- No changes to exam centre, medium, or subjects after submission.
- Candidates offering Music, Dancing, or Drama & Theatre subjects must face both written and practical tests.
- Special Needs Candidates must provide details under the relevant section.
- Identity Verification at the exam hall requires a valid NIC, Passport, or Driving License.
