Applications for External Degree Programmes 2025 – University of Kelaniya

The University of Kelaniya, through its Centre for Distance and Continuing Education (CDCE), has officially announced the opening of applications for its External Degree Programmes for the Academic Year 2025. This move provides a crucial pathway for working professionals and individuals seeking higher education flexibility.

Applications commenced on November 20, 2025, and will close on December 31, 2025. Interested candidates are required to submit their applications online through the dedicated CDCE website

The university is offering four distinct external degree programmes:

1. Bachelor of Arts General (External) Degree
2. Bachelor of Business Management General (External) Degree
3. Bachelor of Commerce Honours (External) Degree
4. Bachelor of Science General (External) Degree

The programs range from three to four years in duration and offer a mix of Sinhala and English mediums, with the BSc General degree being conducted exclusively in English. Course fees vary, with the BA General costing Rs. 100,000 and the BSc General costing Rs. 300,000. For the Business Management and Science degrees, candidates have the option to pay the fee in convenient installments.

Key Entry Requirements

The primary eligibility criteria centre around performance in the G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination.

• Applicants must have passed the G.C.E. A/L at one and the same attempt, with a maximum of three attempts permitted, before the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka, in the year 2024 or before.
• Special Requirement for BSc: Candidates applying for the Bachelor of Science General (External) Degree must have passed the Combined Mathematics subject in the Science stream at the G.C.E. (Advanced Level).
