In a recent directive issued by the Director General of Combined Services, Mr. N.U. Nishan Mendis, officers in Grade I of the Management Service Officers’ Service from selected districts have been granted an exemption from the Efficiency Bar Examination.
The decision, referenced in letter No. COM/PMAS/1-1 dated April 22, 2022, was made public via the Ministry’s website. The exemption applies to officers who have successfully completed a 10-day Training Programme conducted by their respective District Secretariats.
The districts covered under this exemption are:
- Ampara District
- Kurunegala District
- Puttalam District
- Monaragala District
According to the directive, officers meeting the exemption criteria will no longer be required to pass the Efficiency Bar Examination as mandated by amendment 02 of the Minute of Management Service Officers’ Service No. 2052/26 dated January 4, 2018.
Furthermore, relevant authorities have been instructed to inform the exempted officers and facilitate the processing of their salary increments from the date the Efficiency Bar Examination would have been required for completion.
This exemption marks a significant move towards streamlining administrative processes while recognizing professional development efforts undertaken through structured training programs.
