The Ministry of Justice and National Integration has invited applications to appoint Coroners to fill existing vacancies in several Divisional Secretary’s Divisions, under Section 108 of the Criminal Procedure Code No. 15 of 1979.
According to the official notice, details of vacancies and the application form can be downloaded from the Ministry’s website, www.moj.gov.lk. Interested candidates may apply online or submit a hard copy of the application through the prescribed procedure.
The Ministry has clarified that this is not a salaried government post. Appointed Coroners will be paid a government-approved fee, along with approved travelling expenses or incorporated allowances for conducting inquests.
Basic Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of Sri Lanka with excellent moral character and physical fitness
- Be a permanent resident of the relevant Grama Niladhari Division
- Be not less than 27 years and not more than 65 years of age as at the closing date
- Have passed three subjects (excluding the General Common Test and English) in one sitting at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination
- Be conversant in the language required to perform official duties
- Have no serious criminal convictions and must not have been dismissed from public service
- Not be serving as a Registrar of Births and Deaths
Preference will be given to candidates with English and technological knowledge, as well as those who have passed three subjects in the Biology stream at the G.C.E. A/L Examination.
