The Faculty of Agriculture at Eastern University, Sri Lanka, has announced admissions for its BSc. in Agriculture Degree Program (2023/2024 intake), specifically targeting diploma holders in agriculture through a special entry scheme for public officers.
The four-year program, conducted in English, is open to individuals who have completed a two-year Diploma in Agriculture from recognized institutions such as Schools of Agriculture under the Department of Agriculture or Advanced Technological Institutes. Applicants must also be permanent employees, either in the government or private sector, with at least five years of service following their diploma.
Limited Intake Through Competitive Selection
Admissions are highly competitive, with the intake limited to just 5% over the regular student population per batch. Selection will be based on performance in a written examination and an interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified of the examination and interview schedules.
Eligibility Criteria: BSc. in Agriculture Degree Program
- Educational Qualifications:
- G.C.E. O/L: Six passes including Science and Mathematics.
- G.C.E. A/L (Old Syllabus): Three passes in subjects such as Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Pure Maths, Applied Maths, or Agriculture.
- G.C.E. A/L (New Syllabus): Three passes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Maths, or Agriculture.
- Experience: Minimum of five years in relevant employment after obtaining the diploma.
- Age Limit: Applicants must be under 40 years as of the application closing date.
