Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) Honours Programme 2025/26 – Open University

The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) has announced the opening of applications for its Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) Honours programme for the 2025/26 academic year, offering students multiple specialization pathways in key business disciplines.

Programme Specializations Available

The Faculty of Management Studies is offering four distinct specialization tracks for the BMS Honours degree:

• Bachelor of Management Studies Honours (General)
• Bachelor of Management Studies Honours in Accounting and Finance
• Bachelor of Management Studies Honours in Marketing Management
• Bachelor of Management Studies Honours in Human Resource Management

Admission Requirements

Prospective students can qualify for admission through several pathways:

Academic Qualifications:

• Any three passes in one sitting at the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination in Sri Lanka, OR
• Successful completion of any Foundation Programme adding up to 60 credits at Level 1 and Level 2 offered by OUSL, OR
• Successful completion of an Advanced Certificate programme having 30 SLQF credits at SLQF Level 2 offered by the Faculty of Management Studies of OUSL, OR
• Successful completion of an Advanced Certificate programme of OUSL having 30 SLQF credits at SLQF Level 2, OR
• An equivalent or higher academic or professional qualification acceptable to the Senate

Additional Requirements: All eligible candidates must pass a “Selection Test” as part of the admission process.

Selection Test Details

The Selection Test will be conducted on August 24, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon at all Regional and Study Centres of OUSL. The test will be paper-based and conducted onsite.

Note: The Selection Test will not be applicable for candidates who have completed an Advanced Certificate programme having 30 SLQF credits at SLQF Level 2 offered by the Faculty of Management Studies of OUSL.

• Application Fee: Rs. 750/-
• Applications must be submitted online only
• Medium of Instruction: English
• Programme Duration: 4 years (complete two years and earn a Higher Diploma in Management)

Programme Structure

The BMS Honours programme is designed as a 4-year degree programme. Students have the flexibility to complete two years and obtain a Higher Diploma in Management before continuing to complete their full honours degree.

All courses will be conducted in English, making it accessible to students seeking international-standard business education.
