Graduate Teaching Application 2026 (Graduates & Government Officers)

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education has officially invited applications for a large-scale competitive examination to recruit graduates into the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service. This recruitment drive aims to fill Sinhala, Tamil, and English medium teacher vacancies across both National and Provincial schools throughout the island.+4

The recruitment process is divided into two distinct categories based on current employment status:

1. Graduates Already in Public Service (Gazette 2474/18)

This category is specifically for graduates currently employed within the public service.

• Application Period: Online applications will be open from 9:00 a.m. on February 5, 2026, until 9:00 p.m. on February 19, 2026.
• Key Requirement: Applicants must submit a copy of their application to their Head of Institution for inclusion in their personal file and provide a certified copy at the interview.
• Note for Previous Applicants: Those who applied under Gazette No. 2317 (dated January 27, 2023) do not need to re-apply, as their previous applications will be considered. However, this only applies if they are still currently employed in the public service.+1

2. Graduates Not in Public Service (Gazette 2474/19)

This category targets graduates who were not employed in the public service as of February 10, 2023, as well as specific groups of public servants who were previously ineligible or have since resigned.+1

• Application Period: Online applications will open at 9:00 a.m. on February 20, 2026, and close at 9:00 p.m. on March 5, 2026.
• Key Requirement: Downloaded applications must have the signature attested by a Justice of Peace and be produced during the interview
