The University Grants Commission (UGC), the apex governing body of Sri Lanka’s university system, has announced applications for three senior positions at the UGC Secretariat. The available posts include Additional Secretary, Accountant, and Internal Auditor.
According to the official announcement issued on 16 November 2025, suitably qualified candidates are invited to submit applications on or before 15 December 2025.
Positions and Required Qualifications
1. Additional Secretary
Applicants must possess a strong academic background in Administration or Management, complemented by extensive administrative experience. Acceptable qualification pathways include:
- A degree with First or Second Class and a PhD with a minimum of 10 years of post-degree administrative experience,
- A degree with First or Second Class and a Master’s degree with at least 12 years of administrative experience,
- Senior internal candidates such as Deputy Secretaries or Deputy Registrars with specified experience thresholds.
The position carries a U-EX 3(I) salary scale ranging from Rs. 181,730 – 246,780 per month, along with government-approved allowances.
2. Accountant
Applicants must be fully qualified members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CASL) or possess recognized equivalent qualifications. Experience requirements range from 6 to 18 years, depending on the internal grade and qualification pathway.
The post falls under the U-EX 3(II) salary scale, with a monthly range from Rs. 166,130 – 246,780, supplemented by approved allowances.
3. Internal Auditor
The Internal Auditor position carries similar qualification and experience requirements to the Accountant role, including CASL membership or equivalent, and significant experience in accounting and auditing within executive roles.
This role also belongs to the U-EX 3(II) salary scale.
