The Sri Lanka Railway Department has officially announced a recruitment drive for the Train Engine Driver – Grade III position. Eligible Sri Lankan citizens are invited to apply for this competitive (Open Exam) selection process.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age Requirement: Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old as of March 28, 2025. (Born between March 28, 2007, and March 28, 1995).
- Educational Qualifications:
- Passed the GCE Ordinary Level with at least four subjects, including Mathematics, Science, and Language.
- Passed the GCE Advanced Level with at least three subjects, including Physics and Mathematics.
- Professional Qualifications: Candidates must have completed a recognized technical training course from a nationally accredited institution in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Physical Requirements:
- Minimum height: 5 feet 4 inches.
- Unaided vision must be 6/6 in both eyes.
Salary Scale:
- The salary for Train Engine Driver – Grade III is Rs. 34,130 – Rs. 54,130 per month, with periodic increments.
Selection Process:
- Written Examination (General knowledge and technical knowledge).
- Technical Evaluation (Testing practical knowledge in railway operations).
- Medical Examination (To ensure physical and vision fitness).
- Final Interview (For shortlisted candidates).
