The Sri Lanka Teacher Educators’ Union has announced that its members are prepared to launch a strike if their longstanding demands are not met promptly.
During recent discussions with the Ministry of Education, the union raised several issues affecting teacher educators, including matters related to their service conditions and promotional opportunities. Although ministry officials, including the Minister of Education, had assured that solutions would be provided within two weeks, the union claims that no action has been taken so far.
The union has issued a warning stating that if an opportunity for further dialogue is not granted within a week, they will resort to strike action starting the following week.
The union emphasized that the continuous neglect of their grievances has left them with no alternative but to escalate their protest in order to protect their professional rights and dignity.
