💰 Examination Fees & Medium
- Exam Fee: Free / No fee is charged (First time this EB exam is held).
- Medium of Exam: Sinhala, Tamil, and English (Must answer all papers in the same medium; cannot be changed later).
👥 Eligibility / Who Can Apply
According to the 3rd and 4th Amendments to the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service Minute (Gazette Extraordinaries No. 2444/21 dated 2025.07.08 and No. 2493/61 dated 2026.06.19):
- Officers in Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service and Provincial Public Service Teacher Service must complete the 3rd Efficiency Bar Examination before completing four (04) years after promotion to Class 2 Grade I.
- Teachers who were promoted to Class 2-I more than 4 years ago, but whose promotion to Grade I falls after 2025.06.30, are also required to complete this 3rd EB exam requirement to obtain promotion to Grade I.
📝 Exam Structure & Syllabus
The written exam is prepared based on the self-study modules published on the official e-thaksalawa website.

Pass Mark Requirement: A cumulative score of 40% or more for Paper I and Paper II combined is required to pass the examination.

📝 Application Procedure
- Apply ONLY online via www.doenets.lk (“Our Services” → “Online Applications – Recruitment / E.B. Exams”).
- Online application form must be filled in English only.
- Download instructions before filling. Download and take two (02) printed copies after submission.
- Manually fill designated sections, sign, get certified by the Zonal Director of Education: place one copy in personal file and retain the other.
- Candidates with special needs must specify in the online form and send medical certificates along with the printed application to the Department of Examinations.
🪪 Hall Admission & Identity Rules
- Admission cards must be certified by the Zonal Director of Education or an authorized officer.
- Valid Identity Proof: National Identity Card (NIC), Valid Passport, or Valid Sri Lankan Driving License.
- Candidates must enter and remain in the examination hall with their face and ears uncovered to verify identity and ensure no electronic communication devices are worn.
📊 Results Release Procedure
- Results for all candidates (National and Provincial) will be submitted in two province-wise copies to the Secretary of the Ministry of Education.
- One copy will be forwarded to Provincial Ministries/Departments of Education for verification.
- Candidates can download result sheets online and submit them to the Zonal Director of Education to verify with the Provincial Director/Ministry before filing into personal records for promotions and confirmations.
