MSc in Nursing – OUSL

The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) has announced the opening of applications for the 5th Intake of its Master of Science (MSc) in Nursing program for the Academic Year 2026/2027.

The postgraduate degree, offered by the Department of Nursing in the Faculty of Health Sciences, is designed to level up the nursing profession by providing a pathway to leadership in healthcare.

• Application Period: Applications opened on September 15, 2025, and will close on October 15, 2025.
• Application Method: Applications must be submitted ONLINE only.
• Medium: The program is conducted in English.
• Application Fee: Rs. 1000/-

Program Structure and Requirements

The MSc in Nursing offers flexible learning and is a UGC Approved program leading to a recognised qualification.

• Duration: The full program duration is two years.
• Exit Option: Students have an opportunity for an exit after one year completion to receive a Master of Nursing Degree.

To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

• A Bachelor’s Degree of SLQF Level 5 in Nursing; or
• A qualification equivalent to SLQF Level 6 or above in Nursing; or
• An equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate, based on the outcome of a selection interview.
