The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education has announced an open call for publishers and authors to submit books and manuscripts for consideration for school library licenses. This initiative aims to enrich school libraries with high-quality educational materials across various subject fields.
Subject Fields for Submission
The Educational Publications Advisory Board is seeking printed books and manuscripts in Sinhala, Tamil, and English mediums. The subject fields include:
- Language & Literature: Novels, short stories, verse, and works in other foreign languages.
- Religion: Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Catholicism, and Islam.
- Children’s Stories
- Science and Technology
- Information Technology
- Fine Arts
- Social Science
- Other works with scientific value
- Translation works
License Validity and Updates
Licenses for books already obtained will remain valid for five calendar years from the date of issuance. Authors and publishers with existing licenses are encouraged to update their licenses to ensure continued validity.
Submission Guidelines
Authors and publishers interested in obtaining school library licenses can deliver their books and manuscripts to the Educational Publications Advisory Board. The submissions should include:
- Printed Books: Three copies of each book.
- Manuscripts: Two copies of each manuscript.
Submissions can be made in person on Mondays at the Ministry’s office on the fifth floor or sent by post. When sending by post, a Money Order for the observation fee should be included, payable to the Education Secretary or via Postal Money Transfer (PMT) through the Isurupaya Post Office. Cheque payments will not be accepted
