Master of Social Work Programs (MSW) – National Institute of Social Development (NISD)

The National Institute of Social Development (NISD) has announced the commencement of applications for its Master of Social Work (MSW) programs for the academic year 2025.

Program Offerings

The institute offers three MSW programs:

• Master of Social Work (One Year – SLQF 9)
• Master of Social Work (Two Years – SLQF 10)

These programs are available in Sinhala, Tamil, and English mediums, catering to a diverse group of students.

Entry Requirements

Prospective students must meet one of the following criteria:

• A Bachelor’s Degree with at least 30 credits in a relevant subject area;
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with three years of work experience in human/social services;
• A professional qualification equivalent to SLQF level 6 or above;
• Completion of an NVQF level 7 course in a relevant subject;
• Commissioned officers in the Armed Services or Police with five years of experience;
• Officers of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service or parallel managerial services with five years of experience in human/social services.

Course Fees and Teaching Mode

• One-Year Program: Rs. 150,000
• Two-Year Program: Rs. 275,000

The programs will be conducted in blended mode, combining online and in-person learning for flexibility.
