The Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte Municipal Council has invited applications from suitably qualified Sri Lankan citizens for recruitment to the post of Fireman in the Fire Brigade Unit under the Western Provincial Public Service. A total of 24 vacancies are available for this permanent post, which carries entitlement to a pension.

🎓 Educational Qualifications
- Passed the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination in six subjects.
- Obtained four Credit passes, including Sinhala/Tamil and Mathematics, in one sitting.
- Passed Science and English in the same sitting or an additional sitting.
💪 Physical Qualifications
- Minimum height of 162 cm.
- BMI should be within the normal range of 18.5–24.
- Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of a Fireman and serve anywhere in Sri Lanka.
- Eyesight without spectacles or contact lenses should be between 6/6 and 6/12.
- Must not be colour blind and colour vision should be normal.
- Applicants should not have undergone any artificial surgery.
✅ Other Requirements
- Be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Have been a permanent resident of the Western Province continuously for three years immediately before the closing date.
- Be unmarried males.
- Possess an excellent moral character and provide a Police Report confirming non-involvement in criminal activities.
- Have fulfilled all required qualifications by the date specified in the recruitment notice/gazette.
🎂 Age Limit
18 to 24 years of age as at the closing date of applications.
📝 Recruitment Process
- Eligible applicants will be required to sit for a written examination.
- Those who pass the written examination will proceed to a trade (practical) test.
- Successful candidates will be selected as Apprentice Firemen according to merit based on their performance in the written and practical tests. Selected candidates must complete a one-year training course.
