The Ministry of Education has released the complete set of final reports on the impact of the Dithwa Cyclone on government schools, students, and staff across the country.
- The reports cover damage to school infrastructure, disaster impact assessments, and recovery plans at national and provincial levels.
School Re-opening Status
- A total of 9,949 schools are able to resume academic activities nationwide.
- 147 schools remain unable to reopen due to prevailing high-risk conditions.
- All schools in the Western, Southern, Eastern, Northern, North Central, and Sabaragamuwa Provinces have been cleared to reopen.
- Schools still unable to reopen as of December 16:
- Central Province: 115 schools
- Uva Province: 26 schools
- Western Province: 6 schools
- North Western Province: 5 schools
