The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to implement the recommendations of a committee appointed to review Sri Lanka’s public sector recruitment process and staff management.
The committee, chaired by the Secretary to the Prime Minister, submitted two reports outlining the need for new appointments. Based on these findings, the committee has recommended the recruitment of 15,073 individuals to fill existing vacancies.
These positions span across 18 line ministries, 4 provincial councils, and 2 special spending units. The Cabinet’s decision gives the green light to proceed with the recruitment process as outlined in the committee’s reports, aiming to enhance the efficiency and capacity of the public service.
