The National Institute of Social Development (NISD), operating under the Ministry of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment, has announced it is now accepting applications for its four-year Bachelor of Social Work Honours Degree program for the 2025/2036 academic year.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Must have met the minimum qualifications for university admission in any subject stream in the G.C.E. (A.L) Exams of 2022, 2023, or 2024.
- For the English medium degree: A mandatory Credit pass in:
- English language at the G.C.E. (O.L) examination, or
- General English at the G.C.E. (A.L) examination.
Selection Process:
- Shortlisted candidates must take a selection written test in their chosen medium (Sinhala/English/Tamil).
- The test will cover general knowledge, aptitude, and language.
- Successful candidates from the written test will be called for an interview.
- Final selection is based on the combined merit of the written test and interview.
- Tests will be held in Colombo or at provincial centers soon after the application deadline.
Fees:
- The degree course is conducted free of charge.
- A one-time registration fee of Rs. 35,000 is required.
