The Department of Agriculture has issued an official announcement calling for applications for the Limited Competitive Examination 2025 to recruit qualified officers to the posts of Agriculture Instructor, Research Assistant, and Soil Surveyor under the Grade III of the Sri Lanka Technological Service.
According to the Gazette dated 28 November 2025, applications are invited from eligible departmental officers who meet the required educational, professional, and service qualifications.
Vacancies Available
- Agriculture Instructor – 74 vacancies
- Research Assistant – 31 vacancies
- Soil Surveyor – 01 vacancy
Application Details
- Applications must be submitted online through the Department of Examinations website (www.doenets.lk) under “Online Applications – Recruitment Exams”.
- Online applications will be accepted from 1 December 2025 at 9.00 a.m. until 26 December 2025 at 9.00 p.m.
Applicants must also send a printed copy of the online application, certified by the Head of Institution, when requested for interviews.
The examination fee is Rs. 1,200, and those applying for both categories must pay Rs. 2,400.
Examination Schedule
The written examination will be conducted in March 2026 in Colombo and Kandy examination centres.
The exam will include:
- Intelligence Test – 1 hour (100 marks)
- Subject Knowledge Paper – 2 hours (100 marks)
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must have:
- G.C.E. (O/L) with required credit passes
- A two-year Agriculture Diploma / NVQ Level 6 / equivalent qualification
- At least 5 years of satisfactory service in the Department of Agriculture
- Confirmation in the current post
Recruitment Process
Selection will be based on:
- Merit order of written exam results
- Verification of qualifications at the interview (no marks awarded at interview)
Only candidates scoring 40% or more in each paper will be considered.
