Technical Officer Posts (Open & Limited )

Colombo, July 4, 2025 – The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government has announced open and limited competitive examinations for the recruitment of Technical Officers (Grade III and Training Grade) in the Sri Lanka Technological Service. The examinations will be conducted by the Commissioner General of Examinations in October 2025 in the Colombo District.

Key Details:

1. Application Process:
   • Applications must be submitted online via the Department of Examinations website (www.doenets.lk) under “Online Applications – Recruitment Exams/E.B. Exams.”
   • The application window opens on July 7, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. and closes on August 7, 2025, at 9:00 p.m.
   • Serving public officers must submit a copy of their application through their respective department heads.
2. Qualifications:
   • Open Competitive Examination:
     • Educational: GCE (A/L) with three subjects in Science/Mathematics (including Pure/Applied/Combined Mathematics and Physics) and GCE (O/L) with credit passes in six subjects, including language, Science, and Mathematics.
     • Professional: National Diploma in Technology, Higher National Diploma in Engineering, NVQ Level 6, or equivalent qualifications recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission.
   • Limited Competitive Examination (for serving officers):
     • Similar professional qualifications but requires 5–10 years of relevant experience in government service.
3. Examination Structure:
   • Written Exam: Includes an Intelligence Test (1 hour) and a Technology Paper (3 hours), each carrying 100 marks. A minimum of 40% is required to pass.
   • Interview: For verification of qualifications (no marks awarded).
4. Salary and Benefits:
   • Technical Officer Grade III: Monthly salary scale starts at Rs. 52,250, with increments up to Rs. 100,040 (MN-3-2025).
   • Training Grade: Candidates receive a monthly allowance during the one-year training period.
5. Conditions of Employment:
   • Selected candidates will serve a 3-year probation period and must pass official language proficiency tests.
   • Appointments are permanent and pensionable, subject to government policies.
