The Public Service Commission has announced that applications are now open for the recruitment of State Counsel to the Attorney General’s Department for the year 2025.
According to the Gazette notification issued on November 28, a total of 32 vacancies are expected to be filled following a structured two-stage interview process.
Eligibility & Requirements
To qualify, candidates must:
- Have taken oaths as an Attorney-at-Law before the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
- Be between 22–35 years of age on the closing date.
- Be physically and mentally fit to serve anywhere in Sri Lanka.
- Be citizens of Sri Lanka with an excellent character and no criminal convictions.
Recruitment Process
The selection will be conducted through:
- First Structured Interview (Maximum 100 marks)
- Educational qualifications
- Professional experience
- Special skills (communication, speech, leadership)
- Interview performance
- Final Structured Interview (Maximum 100 marks)
- Advocacy
- Presentation of facts
- Responding to problems
- Knowledge of legal principles
Only candidates scoring 50 marks or above at the first stage will be shortlisted for the final interview.
Other Details
- The post is permanent and pensionable, subject to government pension regulations.
- Appointees will undergo a three-year probation period.
- Language proficiency requirements must be met per Public Administration Circular 18/2020.
- The PSC reserves full authority regarding the final selection and number of appointments.
