The Ministry of Higher Education announced that an additional monthly allowance under the Mahapola Scholarship scheme will be provided to university students affected by the recent severe weather disaster.
According to the Ministry, this special allowance will be credited on December 5, 2025, in addition to the regular monthly payment that was already disbursed on November 28, 2025.
The decision has been taken to support undergraduate students whose academic activities and personal circumstances were disrupted due to heavy rains, floods, and related disaster impacts experienced across multiple regions.
The Ministry further stated that all eligible students will receive the payment automatically, and no additional application process is required.
