The Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka, has announced that the practical tests for Aesthetic subjects of the GCE O/L (2025/2026) examination will be held from April 22 to May 4, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner General of Examinations, Amit Kushan Sandeepa (A.K.S.) Indika Kumari Liyanage, the practical exams will be conducted across 1,198 evaluation boards island-wide, catering to 162,587 candidates.
Key Schedule and Subject Details
The department emphasized that for the following subjects, both the written and practical components are mandatory. Candidates failing to appear for either part will not receive a final result for the subject.
- Music: Eastern (40), Western (41), and Carnatic (42).
- Dance: Udarata (44) and Bharatha (45).
- Drama & Theatre: Sinhalese (50), Tamil (51), and English (52).
Important Note: The Aural Test for Western Music (Subject Code 41) is specifically scheduled for April 26, 2026, at the respective practical examination centers.
Admission Cards and Discrepancies
The Department has already dispatched admission cards and timetables:
- School Candidates: Documents have been sent to the respective school principals.
- Private Candidates: Documents have been mailed to their registered private addresses.
