The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) has announced the BA Hons in Library and Information Studies – Bachelor of Arts Honours in Library and Information Studies programme for the 2026–2027 academic year, offering students an opportunity to pursue a career in the growing field of information management and library science.
The undergraduate programme will be conducted in English and includes both online and physical academic activities, providing flexible learning opportunities for students across the country.
Entry Points and Duration
The programme offers multiple entry points depending on the applicant’s qualifications.
Level 3 – First Year Entry
Students who have three passes in main subjects at the G.C.E. Advanced Level in any stream or have completed the OUSL Foundation Course or an equivalent qualification are eligible to enter at Level 3. The duration of the programme from this level is four years.
Level 4 – Second Year Entry
Applicants with a Diploma in Library and Information Science (30 credits) can directly enter the second year, completing the degree in three years.
Level 5 – Third Year Entry
Candidates holding a Higher Diploma in Library and Information Science (60 credits) from a recognized institution or an equivalent or higher qualification accepted by the Senate of the Open University are eligible to enter third year, with a two-year duration to complete the degree.
