📋 Application Categories โ€“ NIE Visiting Lecturers 2026

1. Academic Subjects

Teaching courses across 27 academic subject areas of the BEd (Hons) programme, conducted in Sinhala and Tamil media at designated Regional Centres.

Minimum qualifications
  • Master’s Degree relevant to the subject area, or a recognized Bachelor’s Degree relevant to the subject with any Master’s Degree; and
  • A minimum of five (05) years of teaching experience.
Preferred qualifications
  • Teaching experience at tertiary level or relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in curriculum development, teacher education, educational research, or university-level teaching.

2. Professional Subject โ€” Curriculum Reforms

Minimum qualification
  • A Master of Education (M Ed) Degree at SLQF Level 9 or Level 10 (with Curriculum Development as a subject).
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in curriculum development and curriculum reform initiatives.
  • Experience in teacher education and educational leadership.
  • Experience in planning and conducting professional development programmes for educators.

3. Research Guidance

Research supervision and guidance for undergraduate research projects of the BEd (Hons) programme.

Minimum qualification
  • An M Ed Degree with a research component (SLQF Level 10), or an M Phil / PhD in Education.
Preferred qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in educational research and scholarly publications.
  • Experience in supervising undergraduate and/or postgraduate research.
  • Expertise in quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed-method research methodologies.
