Commissioner General of Examinations, Amith Jayasundara, announced that the GCE A/L Exam Results are expected to be released following the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations in mid-April.
Responding to media inquiries regarding the much-anticipated results, Jayasundara confirmed that the Department of Examinations is currently in the final stages of processing the results and assured that efforts are being made to ensure accuracy and fairness in evaluation.
A total of 333,183 candidates sat for the A/L examination, held from 25 November to 31 December 2024. This included 253,390 school candidates and 79,793 private candidates, spread across 2,312 examination centres islandwide.
In addition, practical examinations for Biosystems Technology (66) were conducted from 8 to 10 February 2025, concluding the final phase of the A/L examination process.
The A/L results play a critical role in university admissions and higher education planning for thousands of students across the country. Authorities urge students and parents to remain patient and await the official announcement, which will be made through the Department of Examinations’ website and other verified channels.
